No man’s land

May 8th, 2007

If you, like me, work in an office, you should understand the importance of seating position. I don’t want to get into trouble here, but seating is key to a happy employee, possibly for the wrong reasons. I think a certain extent of privacy is good, such a dividers and your screen not TOO out in the open for everyone to stare at.

Soon, my good position will be no more.

I am to move to what i can describe as being “no man’s land”, I’ll be out in the open, a pheasant waiting to be shot, a sitting duck, one of those rabbits which has had chemicals to make it blind for easy game.

My only hope is a device I’ve been pondering on. It’s not patented yet but I can’t see it going down too well. It’s much like an old school camera with a hood that screens the monitor (forgive the pun) from everyone else. See below.

  1. Well, I think that it’d be a good thing for you to be out in the open.

    I mean, you won’t get distracted as much, and you’ll be able to get into ‘the zone’ more and therefore your output will increase. This will lead to better reviews, higher pay and good karma all round!

    Hiding yourself away in your cosy position (like I am at mine) makes it too easy to become distracted by the crazy delights of Alamy.

  2. What reason has been given for the move??

    Is it to finally split you an Dan up or make you closer??? Hmmm pause for thought there;

    Is the move nearer the door??

    A plan of said office would be great to enable the pheasant, sitting duck , rabbit etc. to be appreciated …

    Also, why do you want to hide your face from view?? When you come back into the light you will be blinded!!! ha ha (No pun intended, actually yes there was.

  3. In response to Dan, you know full well my output can’t go any higher, yesterday me and Ian were joking about doing the christmas themes for the next 5 years cos we’re so damn fast sometimes we have nothing to do!

    Come on, I’m Golden Boy, the ideal employee, an example to all! Let’s change the subject…

  5. Yeah, Ross isn’t allowed to officially call me Golden Boy but I know deep down he knows it.
